Haryana all-rounder Rahul Tewatia’s reputation as a big-hitting finisher in the Indian Premier League has grown a lot.
Though, the all-rounder has not have been used much as a bowler for the Gujarat Titans (GT), he has been sensational as a finisher for the team. He has got the opportunity to bat in 19 innings for the franchise and he has finished nine games on his own. Moreover, the sheer confidence and positivity he exudes while playing as a finished in the crunch situations has impressed fans and experts.
Though he is not getting an opportunity to bowl for GT in the ongoing IPL, he has been doing that in the nets. Moreover, his 14 wickets in eight matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy are testimony to the fact that he is a handy bowler.
After his explosive knock against Punjab Kings in the Sharjah in the last edition of IPL, Tewatia has further worked very hard on his game and taken it to another level. He has performed consistently in domestic cricket and is fully ready for Team India. Though he had got an India call-up in 2021, he didn’t get the opportunity in the playing XI then. However, the explosive all-rounder feels that he is more ready and in better condition now to play for India.
“The dream to play for Team India has been there since I was a kid watching cricket on television. I just wanted to play on those grounds and wear India jersey. Now that I have come close, why will I waver from that dream?” said a confident Tewatia during an interview.
“Now, tt’s up to the selectors (laughs). A kid from a village, playing in chaddi baniyan on the streets, is now playing the role of a finisher in an IPL team. So yeah, I am pretty close to the India dream, I believe,” he added.
