Former Pakistan star bats for Rishabh Pant to replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test captain

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria feels that aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant could replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test captain in the future. 

According to Kaneria, Pant keeps his teammates entertained like former skipper MS Dhoni.

“Rishabh Pant can lead India in Test format. He has the talent,” said Kaneria.

“Shubman Gill is another guy, who is a three-format player and has shown the leadership quality,” he added.

Pant returned to the longest format of the game against Bangladesh in Chennai after a gap of 18 months. He scored 39 and 109 as India won the contest by 280 runs.

The former Pakistan spinner heaped massive praise on the wicket-keeper batter after he scored a hundred in the first Test against Bangladesh.

Earlier, former India opener Aakash Chopra also spoke about Pant’s future as captain.

While Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Shubman Gill was Gujarat Titans’ captain.
