The current T20 Champions did not have a great ODI Series in Sri Lanka after getting beaten by the hosts 2-0 in a 3-match series. The Indian batters clearly had no answers on how to tackle Sri Lankan spinners who triggered their middle-order batting collapse during the series.
In the wake of a rare series loss, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer expressed his concerns about India’s limited over fixtures before the start of the ICC Champions Trophy in February 2025 to be played in Pakistan.
Taking to X, Wasim Jaffer lauded the Sri Lankan Team for winning an ODI Series after 27 years.
SL played better cricket and deserved the series win. It doesn't worry me that India lost a series. Wins and losses are part of the game. However, it's a point of concern that India has just 3 ODIs before the Champions Trophy.
The last time India lost a series was in 1997 when Arjuna Ranatunga-led team beat India 3-0.
The next ODI assignment for India is against England in February 2025.
