At least 11 people lost their lives and around 50 were injured in the stampede due to the post-victory celebrations after RCB's maiden IPL title triumph in IPL 2025.

As per reports, Kohli was enjoying the victory session inside the stadium, whereas the tragic incident happened outside. Despite the incident, the celebration went ahead as planned, and no one addressed the horrific scenes in Bengaluru.

In response, former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan stated that Virat Kohli was not aware of the tragic incident outside the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.

According to Wassan, there was a lack of communication, and the franchise doesn’t care about the people, as they have to show the revenues as well as the balance sheets. He also added that if Kohli knew the situation, he might have walked away.

"I cannot believe in a million years that Virat Kohli knew that people were dying outside, and the felicitation was going inside," said Wassan during a recent interaction.

"By the time Virat Kohli and the players would have got to know, they didn’t have any say in it. If Virat had known, he would have immediately walked out. I cannot believe that Virat knew and this has happened. But very sad, very tragic," he added.
