After Surya Kumar Yadav's blistering knock of 80 in 42 balls that helped India to take a 1-0 lead in the 5-match T20 series against Australia, one could simply tell that the T20 dasher is back to what he does best. Not only his knock propelled India towards an emphatic victory over the Aussies but it also ensured that India registered their highest chase in T20 history.

His phenomenal performance in the first T20 was in sharp contrast to his performance in ODIs where he just scored 107 runs in the recently concluded World Cup 2023 in India.

Let’s look at how Surya Kumar Yadav has performed in T20 cricket:

After making his debut in 2021, Surya Kumar Yadav has been a regular feature in the India side. He has scored consistently at home and overseas too.

Talking about T20 player awards, he has won 12 of those because of game-changing knocks which helped India win many matches. He is just 3 awards behind Kohli who has been an outstanding T20 player for India.
One of the most noteworthy things about these stats is how quickly he has achieved this feat. He has done it with 54 T20 matches showing his prowess and extraordinary skills with the bat.

Position of Batting

Yadav has a set role in Twenty20 Internationals. Yadav, who enters at No. 3/4/5, where he can make an immediate impact after the openers, has performed admirably and mastered the art of the high-risk approach.

In stark contrast, his batting position is never settled in the ODIs. He has been a floater where he generally gets 50 balls to express himself on the field.
Yadav plays 20 balls on average every match in the ODI format, which is just insufficient for a top-tier batsman in one of the hardest formats of the game.

"If I am honest with myself, I know that my ODI numbers are very bad. I have no shame in admitting that because it is more important to figure out how to better it. So, what Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid told me was that I do not play this format very often, so I need to practice more," he said before the start of World Cup 2023.
