Cheteshwar Pujara
India Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara is known among the fans for his calm demeanor both on and off the ground. However, fans will be astonished to know that a former aggressive Australian opener was getting disturbed by Pujara’s sledging while batting.
Pujara recently opened up about the incident while commentating during the third Test between India and Australia in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The right-handed batsman narrated how he used to disturb the concentration of legendary Australian opener David Warner.
“David Warner was not able to pick Ravichandran Ashwin well. There were times when the off-spinner got the better of him. I knew about his weaknesses. The moment he came out to bat, I used to remind him of his track record against Ashwin and how he was not batting well. It played on his mind, which helped us grab his wicket,” said Pujara.

“I even informed my teammates that they had a chance against Warner if he that talk about Ashwin in front of him. Even during the course of my batting, I never leave a chance of taking on Warner. The moment I was in the middle and Warner was fielding, he used to walk away after looking at me,” the Test batter added.
Notably, Warner is one of the best Australian openers across formats in international cricket. Australia have so far failed to find his proper replacement following his retirement.
