Odia star Jyoshna Sabar stood first and clinched a gold medal in the 40 kg youth category of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2023 which got underway in Greater Noida on Wednesday.
Jyoshna bagged the yellow metal by lifting a total weight of 116 kg including 52 kg in snatch and 64 kg in clean and jerk.
India has bagged a total of three gold medals so far in the Championships.
Apart from Jyoshna, Asmita and Komal Kohar also bagged gold medals in 45kg youth and junior category and 45kg senior category respectively.
As many as 253 weightlifters, including 52 Indians are competing across the senior, junior and youth categories in the five-day long tournament.
The tournament will also serve as a test run for the prestigious AWF Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting championship slated to begin later this month. India is hosting the tournament for the second time, having successfully organised it in Pune in 2015.
Earlier his year, Jyoshna had bagged a silver and overall bronze medal at the Youth World Weightlifting Championship held at Durres in Albania.
