Champions Trophy 2025
India will take on arch-rival Pakistan in a high-voltage clash of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on February 23.
Players and fans from both countries are often charged up during the intense clash between the arch-rivals and as a result many controversies erupt.
Let’s have a look at some of the controversies involving India and Pakistan in the Champions Trophy.
The first controversy occurred during the clash between India and Pakistan at Birmingham in 2004. Rahul Dravid and Shoaib Akhtar had a dramatic clash during a run in the match. The tension escalated quickly as the two exchanged heated words. Subsequently, Inzamam-ul-Haq stepped in and diffused the situation.
India had a forgettable 2017 Champions Trophy final. Pakistan stunned India in the summit clash to claim the coveted mini World Cup trophy. However, the drama didn’t end there. As Indian speedster Mohammad Shami was heading towards the dressing room, a Pakistani fan taunted him with the question, ‘Who’s the boss?’ A visibly upset Shami was ready to snap when MS Dhoni stepped in and played the peacemaker. Dhoni calmed Shami down before the situation could spiral further.
