Despite testing positive for Covid-19, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green took the field in the second Test against West Indies at Gabba.

However, speedster Josh Hazlewood’s playful shooing away of Green during the team celebration added a unique twist to the ongoing pandemic challenges faced by the Australian cricket team.

When Hazlewood dismissed Kraigg Brathwaite, Australians celebrated the fall of the wicket. When Green wanted to join the celebration, Hazlewood playfully waved away the all-rounder due to the later’s Covid positive status.

Thus the incident highlighted the team’s commitment to maintaining social distancing protocols even in the midst of on-field jubilation.

The video of the incident has gone viral over various social media platforms.

Responding to the video clip, several fans have flooded the comment box with amazing comments.

“It’s been four years now. Even COVID has moved on, you should too,” wrote a fan.

“If Green touch n catch the ball will Sanitise or carry on?” tweeted another fan.

In response to the video, a third user commented, “Way to segregate a team mate when they don’t need to.”

Notably, Travis Head contracted the virus after the first Test in Adelaide. Though Head has tested negative, both Green and head coach Andrew McDonald are still in the recovery process.

Despite getting the infection, Green was deemed fit to play, adhering strictly to safety guidelines.
