The much-awaited 2022 Odisha Open, a Badminton World Federation (BWF) event will kick off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack from January 25 (tomorrow).

The Super 100 tournament which is the third event of the 2022 BWF World Tour calender will continue till January 30. It is the first edition of the Odisha Open and is being organised by the Badminton Association of India.

Over 300 shuttlers from a total of 18 countries will lock horns against each other to win in the categories of Men's and Women's singles, Men's and Women's doubles apart from Mixed doubles.

Several renowned faces in the racquet sport like Parupalli Kashyap, Saina Nehwal, Ashwini Ponnappa and Rutuparna Panda from Odisha will participate in the competition as seeded players.

Covid test of many players who have already arrived for the marquee event in Bhubaneswar has already been completed.

The tournament will however be played behind closed doors without the presence of spectators in the stadium which has dampened the mood of innumerable badminton fans not only in Odisha but outside.
