Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have so far struggled to put up good performances during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). To make matter worse, the team will now miss the services of in-form Washington Sundar.

The utility all-rounder has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL with a hamstring injury. The franchise announced the development on Thursday.

“Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to a hamstring injury. Speedy recovery, Washi,” tweeted SRH.

SRH are currently languishing on the ninth spot in the points table with four points in their kitty. Led by South African cricketer Aiden Markram and coached by West Indies great Brian Lara, SRH have just registered two wins from seven matches. Though they are tied with Delhi Capitals (DC) with four points, they are one place ahead of DC on the basis of good run rate.

Following their loss against DC in their last match, Head Coach Lara had admitted that SRH find themselves with their backs against the wall.

SRH’s main strike bowler and speedster Umran Malik has struggled for form and rhythm in the ongoing IPL season and he does not seem to have the trust of new skipper Aiden Markram. It is one of the main reasons why the team has failed to perform well. Umran has taken just five wickets in six games so far at an economy of 9.63. In SRH’s recent defeat against DC, he was given just two overs to bowl.
