BGT 2024: Yashasvi Jaiswal slams century against Australia as India stretch lead

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant hundred against Australia at Optus Stadium. Partnering with KL Rahul, he dominated the game. Jaiswal's consistent performance since his debut against West Indies is remarkable.

The young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a sparkling hundred against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Jaiswal got to his milestone by hitting a six and socked in all the applause from the crowd. 

The left-handed opener showed an enormous amount of resilience and grit with his stroke play. He along with KL Rahul, who is currently batting on 75*, kept Australia on the mat and didn’t allow Australia to get back into the game.

Jaiswal is hogging the limelight for India in tests ever since his debut where he scored 171 runs against West Indies. 

Jaiswal again showcased his skill after scoring over 712 runs against England during the home series where India beat England 4-1.

He has scored 1218 runs in the year 2024 and also has hit the most sixes in a calendar year with 34. The record was previously held by New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum.

Jasprit Bumrah opted to bat on a green deck was India was soon reduced to 51-4 in no time. Then it was Rishabh Pant (37) and Nitish Reddy (41) who rescued the team and stitched a crucial partnership of 48 runs which helped India to post 150 runs in their 1st innings. 

In Australia’s innings, India captain Jasprit Bumrah displayed a superb bowling masterclass which the Australian batsman had no clue about. With sheer

pace and accuracy, Bumrah ripped the Aussie batting lineup as he picked up a fifer. Indian bowlers shined as Australia was bundled out for 104 runs. 

Currently, India is well in the top with 214-1 runs with a healthy lead of 260 runs.
