BCCI is soon going to formulate a policy to prevent the trend of pre-determined retirement of Indian cricketers who are opting to play in several foreign leagues mushrooming across the globe.

In the recent past, it has been found that some Indian cricketers have taken retirements to start playing in the overseas T20 leagues. BCCI is not too happy with such moves as in the long run it can hurt Indian cricket.

So many leagues across the globe are offering massive amount of money and luring players into taking early retirements. BCCI is certainly not pleased over the development.

“BCCI will formulate a policy for its players including retired cricketers with respect to their participation in overseas T20 leagues,” said BCCI secretary Jay Shah during an interview.

“We’ll come out with a policy to prevent the trend of pre-determined retirement. The office bearers will make a policy and send it back for approval,” he added.

Some other key decisions were also made during the 19th Apex Council meeting of BCCI on Friday.

One more key decision was taken regarding the use of the Impact Player in domestic T20 league Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023.
