Australian cricket legend and one of the greatest bowlers of all times, Shane Warne passed away on Friday following a suspected cardiac arrest. He was 52.

As per a statement given to Fox News by Warne's management firm, he passed away in Thailand of a suspected heart attack.

"Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived," the statement read.

"The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course," it added.

Arguably the greatest leg-spinner of all-time, Warne claimed 708 Test wickets in his 15-year career between 1992 and 2007.

Warne made his Test debut against India in Sydney in 1992 and followed it with an ODI debut against New Zealand in Wellington in March next year.

Warne, who was chosen as one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Century, finished his ODI career with 293 wickets. He also played a key role in Australia's ODI World Cup triumph in 1999.

Several cricketers from across the world including India's Virender Sehwag, Venkatesh Prasad and Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar took to Twitter to express their grief on the untimely demise of the Aussie spinner. 

Indian Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also condoled the untimely demise of his friend Warne.

His Twitter post read: "Shocked, stunned & miserable… Will miss you Warnie. There was never a dull moment with you around, on or off the field. Will always treasure our on field duels & off field banter. You always had a special place for India & Indians had a special place for you."

Yuvraj Singh expressed grief and penned down a heartfelt note.

Virat Kohli's post read: "Life is so fickle and unpredictable. I cannot process the passing of this great of our sport and also a person I got to know off the field. RIP #goat. Greatest to turn the cricket ball."

Indian Cricket team captain Rohit Sharma expressed grief on the demise of the legendary.

Several other cricket legends, who have several memories with Warne, both on-field and off-field also expressed grief through their social media posts.

Earlier today, Shane Warne had expressed grief on the demise of Rod Marsh through his Tweet. "Sad to hear the news that Rod Marsh has passed. He was a legend of our great game & an inspiration to so many young boys & girls. Rod cared deeply about cricket & gave so much-especially to Australia & England players. Sending lots & lots of love to Ros & the family. RIP mate," his post read.
