Arshdeep Singh

As the high-voltage India vs England Test series heads into its final chapter, fresh faces and strategic reshuffles are grabbing the spotlight. The biggest news? Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is likely to make his Test debut in the fifth and final match at The Oval, beginning Thursday.

Arshdeep’s Big Red-Ball Break

After missing the fourth Test due to a hand injury that required stitches, Arshdeep returned to the nets in full rhythm. He impressed during India’s practice session on Tuesday, bowling with control and aggression. A regular in India’s white-ball squads, Arshdeep brings valuable left-arm variety, swing with the new ball, and a deceptive short delivery skills that could challenge England’s aggressive top-order.

With 66 wickets in 21 first-class games and County experience with Kent, Arshdeep’s red-ball credentials are solid.

Selection Shake-Up: Who Makes Way?

According to The Times of India, Anshul Kamboj, who had a forgettable debut in Manchester, is likely to be dropped. Shardul Thakur's underwhelming performance just 11 overs in a 669-run innings may also put his spot in jeopardy.

With Akash Deep expected to return from a minor groin injury, India may field both him and Arshdeep unless Kuldeep Yadav is drafted in as a spin option.

Uncertainty Over Bumrah's Availability

While Jasprit Bumrah remains fit, there’s no confirmation on his participation. India had initially planned to play him in only three of the five Tests. The final call will be made by head coach Gautam Gambhir, the physio, and captain Rohit Sharma.

A Test That Could Define the Summer

With the series on the line and fresh blood in the squad, India is hoping the changes pay off. All eyes now turn to The Oval, where Arshdeep’s debut could mark the beginning of a new chapter in India's pace legacy.
