Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi stunned the cricket buffs with his suggestion that Virat Kohli should retire from international cricket when in peak form.

As per Afridi, things should not reach a stage where Kohli will be dropped from the Indian team. Afridi’s comment came close on the heels of Kohli’s much-awaited 71st international century.

While Afridi’s comment didn’t go down well with several cricket experts, former Indian spinner Amit Mishra took a jibe at the ex-Pakistan cricketer.

Taking a dig at Afridi, the tweaker wrote: “Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this.”

“Virat is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high,” Afridi told in a TV show.

Notably, the Indian team would be in Australia for the much-awaited T20 World Cup in a little more than a month. Kohli would be a key member of the side in the mega event and it is expected that the world-class batsman will score big runs for the Men in Blue.
