Michael Jordan: Widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Jordan faced multiple setbacks early in his career, including being dropped from his high school basketball team. Success and failure are two sides of same coin but the roads to triumph are always paved with setbacks.

Jordon’s story is a testament to the importance of failure in achieving success.

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed.”

Jordon understood this process very well as each time he would fail, he would carefully assess his performance, pinpoint the areas that need development, and work tirelessly to hone his abilities. His dedication to lifelong learning process and improvement enabled him to turn setbacks into stepping stones on to the path of success.

“I failed over and over again in my life and that is the reason why I succeed.”

However, he continued to work hard and became a six-time NBA champion.

Hamilton’s mindset played a big role in her journey to the top of surfing. “This is what I dreamt of, and the loss of my arm didn’t stop that dream,” she reflects.

“It’s just my mindset and my approach to the obstacle and thinking on what I can do and how you know what is possible versus what’s the challenge of it.”

Usian Bolt: After getting diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 17, his spine was bending due to over training. This resulted in his performance as he was eliminated from the 200 sprint in the Olympics held in 2004.
