Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni had shared a post on social media platform a couple of days back that created confusion among the fans about the future of the legendry cricketer in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’. Stay tuned!” Dhoni wrote on his Facebook account.

The post created a lot of flutter among the netizens. Several of them predicted that Dhoni may play the role of a mentor in IPL 2024.

However, Dhoni has now clarified on what he meant by his post. “New season, double role!” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday. The post was actually a promotion for the IPL.

Notably, Dhoni landed in Chennai on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming marquee event. The defending champions posted a picture of Dhoni, who led them to their fifth title last season, exiting a vehicle on social media, with the caption “#THA7A Dharisanam!”

Earlier, speculations were rife that Dhoni was going to retire after IPL 2023. However, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman announced after CSK’s final win that he will continue to play for the love he has been showered with.
