After out-of-favour batsman Karun Nair replaced injured skipper KL Rahul at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, one of his old tweets a few months ago has gone viral.

“Dear Cricket, Give Me Another Chance,” Nair had tweeted.

However, days after the post, he went unsold at the IPL auction. Finally, the chance has come for him. The 31-year-old must look to make the most of the golden chance to revive his career.

Notably, Nair holds the unique record of being the only Indian player apart from explosive batter Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in the longest format of the game. He got a triple ton against England in the 2016 Chennai Test. In spite of that brilliant innings, Nair only played six Tests and two ODIs for the Indian team. His last appearance came in 2017.

Nair has so far played 76 IPL games and scored 1,496 runs. Nair was part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) team that reached the final in 2022. However, he played just three games for RR and scored 16 runs. He was also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team in 2021, but did not get a single chance. He was also previously part of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teams in the cash-rich league.
