Struggling Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) returned to winning ways after defeating Mumbai Indians convincingly by 52 runs at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Monday to move to the seventh place in the IPL points table.

Meanwhile, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer revealed how difficult it is to tell the players that they are not a part of the playing eleven. He also said that the CEO (Venky Mysore) is involved in team selection.

“It is really difficult because I was also in that position once when I started playing the IPL. We discussed with the coaches and obviously, the CEO is also involved in team selection. Especially, Baz (Brendon McCullum) goes to the players and tells them,” said Iyer.

“To be honest, all of our players are very supportive in the decision making. The way they turn up to the ground and support each and every individual, it is something to be proud of as captain. I am really happy with how we played against Mumbai Indians,” Iyer said after the match.
