Ahead of the winter session of the State Legislative Assembly which will commence from December 1, Speaker Surya Narayan Patro Thursday chaired a meeting to chalk out the Covid-19 protocols to be followed for the 26-day session.

The Speaker informed that Covid test of all the MLAs, their PSOs, drivers, employees, journalists and all those who will be visiting the Assembly will be carried out. Three days (November 28, 29 and 30) have been fixed for the exercise.

The restrictions followed in the previous sessions will also be strictly in place this time. The members can participate in the House itself as well as the Speaker’s gallery, public gallery and Lok Seva Bhawan.

Regarding the Covid and antibody tests of legislators and others, a discussion involving the secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department and the Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation (BMC) has already been held.

An all party meeting will be held on November 29 to decide the duration of the daily business hours.

After the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Raj Kumar Sharma told reporters that the Speaker directed to take steps to ensure Covid-19 protocols in the House during the session. 

Notably, the Winter Session of the State Legislative Assembly will commence on December 1 and continue till December 31, with a total of 26 working days.
