The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress on Saturday took a strong exception to a viral video wherein community resource persons (CRP) working under the Mission Shakti were seen taking a pledge to work for Cuttack Sadar MLA Chandra Sarathi Behera.

According to sources, the women members, who are engaged to discharge government duties took the pledge by taking the name of Cuttack Sadar MLA Chandra Sarathi Behera at Khandeita Panchayat under Cuttack Sadar block. They said they will work as per the direction of the MLA.

Someone recorded the event and uploaded the video on social media platforms.

“The community resource persons took the pledge to work for the Cuttack Sadar MLA by touching Mahaprasad. It is unfortunate,” said BJP leader Dillip Mallik.

“I want to tell them that the money they are getting is government money. That is not the MLA’s money. They can’t take a pledge to work for him,” said Cuttack district president of Congress, Manas Choudhary.

When contacted, Cuttack Sadar block development officer (BDO) Rajib Lochan Parida said over the phone, “We didn’t ask them to do so. I will talk to the GPO and then appropriate steps will be taken.”
