Newly-elected Leader of Opposition in Odisha Legislative Assembly and senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra on Thursday welcomed Sunil Bansal as Odisha BJP In-charge.

Bansal has also been vested with the charge of two other states West Bengal and Telangana.

After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar parted ways with NDA, Bansal, who was the general secretary (Organisaton) in Utar Pradesh since 2014, was appointed as National Secretary in charge of the three Opposition-governed states.

Now, BJP leaders have pinned their hopes on Bansal to ensure that BJP will win at least in Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand or Telangana. Bansal has to deliver in at least two of the state he is given charge of because it is more important for BJP to gain more seats from these states.

Veteran BJP leader Mishra heaped praises on Bansal and claimed he will play a major role to throw out BJD from Odisha. He hopes Bansal will claim dominance in Odisha with his strategies.

“We will strengthen our party from the Booth Level,” Mishra said while giving a football funda.

“A single team cannot always play well with same intensity in a 90-minute football match. The last 15 minutes of the match is crucial. Our new coach (Bansal) will prepare strategies. A time will come and we will surely make goal,” Mishra said while addressing a presser.

However, members of the Opposition said that Bansal would not make much difference in Odisha.

Debiprasad Mishra, BJD MLA said, “They have been saying this since last few years. They have been pacing up their concentration. But, till the time, Naveen Patnaik is our Chief Minister, they cannot do anything. No combination or perpetration can break the CM Naveen Patnaik and his government because people of Odisha have belief on us.”

On the other hand, Congress MLA Sura Routray said, “In Odisha, the fight is between Congress and BJD. BJP is nowhere close in Odisha. There will be development in Odisha, if we come to power. Our rally and gherao is on. We are motivating people. We are trying to reach out to people by going door to door.”

Meanwhile, Baijayant Panda, the National Vice-President of BJP on Thursday congratulated Sunil Bansal.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Panda wrote, “Welcomed newly appointed @BJP4India general secretary and Prabhari of three high potential states, Telangana, West Bengal and my home state Odisha Shri @sunilbansalbjp. His dynamic organisational skills and experience will be a huge asset.”
