The Congress delegation on Tuesday returned from a two-day trip to New Delhi where they met Rahul Gandhi to discuss issues pertaining to the party's Odisha unit and its leadership.

Following their return, senior Congress leader and MLA, Narasingha Mishra said the meeting with Gandhi was fruitful and the latter emphasised unity and discipline among the leaders in the party.

“We discussed everything related to Odisha and the Congress party’s performance in the State. A brainstorming session will be held from May 13-15 where a detailed guideline will be prepared and that will be followed by all of us,” said Mishra.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik, who has resigned from his position, said: “I am happy that my resignation request on health grounds is being considered by the party High Command."

Amid the demands for a complete overhaul and change in OPCC leadership, a delegation of the party leaders had left for New Delhi on Sunday to meet the high command and put forth their suggestions.

The delegation included senior Congress leaders Jayadev Jena, Suresh Routray, Mohammed Moquim, Ramesh Jena and Santosh Singh Saluja. Later, OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik and senior leader Narasingha Mishra had also left for New Delhi.
