NDA’s presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu will return from New Delhi tomorrow for which a rousing welcome has been arranged to greet her in the state Capital.

According to sources, a flowery welcome will be offered to Murmu when she will arrive at Bhubaneswar airport on Friday and she will be escorted to State Assembly soon after reaching the airport. She will have a meeting with legislators and parliamentarians of the Biju Janata Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party.  She will have discussion on President’s election with BJD and BJP leaders. Besides, the BJP has planned to have a special meeting with the Presidential candidate tomorrow.

BJD MLA Amar Satpathy said “We will have a meeting with Odisha-born President candidate Droupadi Murmu at the State Assembly at 10.30am.

BJP MLA Jayant Sarangi said, “I would like to appeal everyone irrespective political parties to support Odisha-born Droupadi Murmu because it’s not about any political party. It’s about motherland.”

Independent MLA Markand Muduli said, “Tomorrow Presidential Candidate Draupadi Murmu will be back to Odisha. We will give her a rousing welcome and give our support to her. We will surely meet her tomorrow.”

Soon after she was named Presidential candidate by NDA, the Centre provided Murmu round-the-clock Z+ category security cover by armed Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) starting.  

She is the first woman and a tribal leader from Odisha to be appointed a Governor in an Indian state. If elected, Murmu will be the first tribal President of India and the second-ever female President.

The presidential elections are scheduled for July 18
