Amid the storm over the Mamita Meher murder case in Odisha politics, the State unit in-charge of the Congress party, Chella Kumar on Friday mounted more attack on the BJD government and its Law Minister, Pratap Jena, over the high profile Mahanga double murder case.

Kumar has asked Jena to quit his post on moral grounds stating that the Minister's name appears in the FIR filed in connection with the brutal killings of BJP leader and former Mahanga block chairman Kulamani Baral and his associate Dibyasingha Baral on January 2 this year.

Leveling more serious allegations in connection with the case, the Congress leader said that the prime accused in the murder, Prafulla Biswal, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances, was actually eliminated by the local leaders so that he did not spell out the truth.

The Congress high command including party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are aware of the case. "We can assure that until stringent action is taken against Minister Pratap Jena, Congress will continue its crusade," he said.

However, the Odisha government is yet to comment anything in regard to the statement made by Chella Kumar.
