Leaders of the Bhubaneswar District BJP on Saturday staged dharna in front a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Capital city protesting the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab.

Condemning the incident, State BJP President Samir Mohanty, who was among the leaders, said the security breach was a conspiracy by the ruling Congress in Punjab.

“We condemn the plot. It shows the collapse of the law and order machinery in Punjab,” said Mohanty.

Demanding stern action against the culprits in the breach, Bhubaneswar District BJP President Babu Singh said, “Congress must understand that the Prime Minister is not just an individual, rather an institution. Everybody should honour the important position. Congress workers should learn from Bapuji’s teaching,” said Singh.

BJP General Secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar blamed the Punjab Government for the security beach.

“Prime Minister Modiji is one of the best leaders in the world at present. We strongly condemn the conspiracy against him. We demand stern action against the culprits,” said Samantsinghar.

Earlier a day before, an Odisha BJP team had called on Governor Ganeshi Lal to convey people’s concern over the breach in the security of the Prime Minister Modi.

The 10-member delegation led by Samir Mohanty apprised the Governor of the lapses committed by the Congress government in Punjab in the Prime Minister’s security.

Notably, Modi’ss convoy was held up on a flyover at Ferozepur, around 30 km ahead from its destination, National Martyrs Museum in Hussainiwala, due to a road blockade by protesters on Wednesday.
