The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday performed special ‘pujas’ across the nation, praying for the long life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the security breach that occurred during the PM’s visit to Ferozepur in Punjab on Wednesday.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday performed special prayers at a temple in Bhopal for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long life. Similarly, special Mahamrityunjay jaaps were also organized at several places in Delhi and Bhopal.

Praying for the long life of the Prime Minister, BJP National Vice President, Baijayant Panda also performed Mahamrityunjay jaap at Jhandewala Devi temple in New Delhi. It is learnt that a candle march will also be organized in the evening.

“The way the security of the Prime Minister was compromised during his visit to Punjab, around 13 rules had been violated by the Punjab state government,” Panda said.

Laying into the Congress, Panda said, “The Congress party has not apologized as yet for the carnage that took place in Delhi in 1984 wherein thousands of Sikhs were slain. What they did yesterday is being watched by people across the nation. Crores of people are with us and praying for the long life of the Prime Minister under whose leadership the nation is achieving sustainable historical developments.”

Back home in Odisha, the breach of the Prime Minister’s security during his Punjab visit on Wednesday has also been condemned. The BJP Bhubaneswar district unit too objected to the lapses. Protesting it, the saffron party took out a procession from the party office near Ram Mandir in Bhubaneswar to the Ram Mandir square where the party workers staged a demonstration and burnt the effigy of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. On the occasion, the State BJP unit said it should be the responsibility of all states to respect and provide security to the Prime Minister.

Coming down heavily on the Congress party, BJP Bhubaneswar organizational district president Babu Singh alleged the security breach was nothing but a sponsored programme of Punjab’s Congress government.
“The State BJP unit has condemns the way the Prime Minister’s security was breached in Punjab. Our dear leader Narendra Modi has been the Prime Minister for eight years and his popularity is on the rise. Out of fear, the Congress leaders are resorting to such attacks on the PM,” Singh said.

The Congress party’s own legislator Suresh Routray too condemned the way the Prime Minister’s convoy was made to halt for 15 to 20 minutes on a flyover. “It should not have happened. Irrespective of party affiliation, our Prime Minister’s respect means our Nation’s respect. Making him halt on a bridge for half-an-hour is wrong. The government should take appropriate steps against those who are involved in the act,” Routray said.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said they wish Prime Minister Narendra Modi should serve the nation for the years to come. “Yesterday a conspiracy was hatched against him. For his long life, we prayed to the lord, lit lamps and observed Mahamrityunjay jaap. We all are praying from the core of our hearts,” Vaishnaw added.
