State Election Commissioner (SEC) Aditya Prasad Padhi on Thursday directed all District Collectors to complete the ward delimitation and seat reservation process for the upcoming three-tier Panchayati raj elections in Odisha and submit the final list to Commission by October 26.

Padhi today reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming panchayat elections with the District Collectors through video conferencing.

The SEC had a detailed discussion on the ballot to be used in the elections. He asked the Collectors to carry out repair and colour works of all the ballot boxes. The SEC said Rs 1.16 crore has been released to the districts for the purpose. He asked Collectors to complete the repair works by November 15, 2021.

The State Election Commission has also issued a detailed guideline for counting votes after the election process is over. This time, the counting of votes will be held at the block offices. The Collectors have been asked to identify vote counting centres in block offices and keep them in readiness.

As per the discussion in the meeting, the voter list, which was published on the basis of assembly constituencies in January 2021, has been sent to all districts. Based on this, the commission has directed Collectors to prepare the voter list in excel format for the upcoming panchayat elections in 2022.
