Chhattisgarh’s Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma has joined the bandwagon of campaigning for the forthcoming Odisha Panchayat polls slated to begin on February 16.
The senior leader from the neighbouring state is campaigning for Odisha Congress which has been pushed to the third position in the State politics (in 2019 general elections).
He has been campaigning and taking part in a number of rallies, meetings and door-to-door campaigns for the State Congress candidates in Rayagada district.
During the campaign trail, the senior leader of the grand old party from the neighbouring state slammed the ruling BJD and the BJP and persuaded people to vote for Congress.
“People from all sections of society are in distress due to the BJD's misgovernance in the State and the BJP in the Centre. They will not tolerate their tyranny anymore. We are confident of our candidates' victory in the Panchayat elections in Odisha,” said Lakhma.
Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka and other senior leaders of South Odisha also joined the campaign under the stewardship of Lakhma.
Earlier, the party had decided to rope in its leaders in neighboring Chhattisgarh to campaign for the party’s candidates for Zilla Parishad seats during the rural polls.
As per the party sources, leaders from the neighbouring state who will campaign in Odisha include Chhattisgarh Congress PCC president Mohan Markam, and Ministers Kawasi Lakhma and Amar Jeet Bhagat. The Chhattisgarh leaders will campaign for Odisha Congress candidates in the bordering districts, said party sources.
