The Orissa High Court on Friday declined to grant bail to Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev in connection with a road rage incident caused by the legislator which left as many as 22 people in Khordha in March earlier this year.

The infuriated mob then attacked the MLA and also vandalised his vehicle. A severely injured Jagdev was initially admitted to Banpur hospital and later shifted to a Bhubaneswar based private hospital. He was arrested after his discharge from the hospital on March 22.

Jagdev has been charged with serious offences like attempt to murder, obstructing police personnel from performing their duty, injuring public and using car as weapon to hurt people.

The HC had earlier allowed the extension of interim bail to the suspended BJD leader under health grounds.
