Tara Prasad Senior Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati on Thursday threw his weight behind the demand for a change of guard in Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).

Talking to reporters, Bahinipati said, "Anyone from amongst the MLAs should be appointed as the PCC president. As there is no major organisation of the party and no administrative officers pay enough importance to district presidents, changes can be effected if Congress MLAs are roped in for the PCC post."

The senior Congress MLA further clarified that it is was his personal view. "I will certainly rake up the issue and put forth this demand before the Odisha-in-charge and other officials of the party. The move will strengthen the party organisation, all leaders and party workers will abide."

Bahinipati said he has no problem if senior leader and MLA Suresh Routray, Barabati Cuttack MLA Md Moquim or any other is made to take charge of the Odisha Congress as PCC President. But whosoever is chosen, he should be from among the elected MLAs.
