With a dream to serve the villagers in his area, a young IT engineer from Puri has quit a lucrative job to contest as Zilla Parishad candidate during the forthcoming Panchayat elections in Odisha.

The IT engineer Santosh Pradhan has filed his nomination as a Congress candidate from Zone No. 30 in the district.

“I belong to a rural area and I am well aware of the problems associated with it. So, I always cherish the dream to serve the people of our area and mitigate their sufferings,” said Santosh.

“I was working from home for an IT company during Covid-19 pandemic for the last two years. During this period, I developed an intense desire to serve the people of the area as I developed a bond with them and came to know about their problems like the back of my hands,” said Santosh.

“I am well aware of the problems in our area. We don’t have any healthcare facilities in our area. Our people have to run more than 12 kilometres for treatment at Kerandia Primary Health Centre. By becoming a Zilla Parishad Member, I think I will be in a better position to work for the cause of the people. Therefore, I am contesting the election,” he said.

He further claimed that apart from carrying out developmental works, he will ensure basic rights to the people in his area.
