Sharpening his attack on the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit spokesperson, Anil Biswal on Thursday said the state government is misleading the people by hijacking and rechristening the central schemes as its own.

While addressing a press conference at the party office in Bhubaneswar, Biswal said the state government is busy in rebranding, repackaging and marketing yojanas hijacked from the Central government. This way, the state government is misleading the people.

Biswal trained guns at the government while referring to schemes like Soubhagya Yojana, Biju Gram Jyoti Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana, Biju Kanya Ratna Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Yojana  and the Potato Mission.

“We demand that the state government should put the clear picture before the people of the state as to how much budget allocations have been made for the aforesaid yojanas and how many people have benefitted,” he said.

“The state government has constructed 3,000 houses under Biju Pucca Ghar yojana whereas, under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 28 lakh houses have been constructed. The government is doing only logo politics in Biju Pucca Ghar yojana. Similarly, under the state food security scheme, the state government had promised to give rice to 25 lakh people. But only 8 lakh people received the same. The government while not giving 10 kilograms of rice under its own scheme is instead demanding the other (the Central government) to provide the same,” he added.

No response has been received from the State government or the BJD.
