Odisha BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya on Sunday slammed BJD’s Organising Secretary Pranab Prakash Das for asking the Opposition party to produce evidence to prove involvement of the Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra in connection with the murder of the lady teacher Mamita Meher in Kalahandi.

Das took to Twitter to challenge BJP after Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accused CM Naveen of shielding Mishra in Mamita murder case. “If you come up with evidence and proof then produce it before the police or High Court. The Chief Minister will not only dismiss, but send (him) to jail,” the BJD leader tweeted.

Referring to Das’ comment on the social media platform, Acharya said, “Das' statement shows his ego and ignorance of the law. If he has the guts, he should give advice to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to dismiss the State Law Minister and the MoS (Home) and order CBI probe into the Mamita murder case and the Mahanga double murder case.”

Acharya also rapped Das stating that no action has so far been taken against the BJD leader and Law Minister Pratap Jena for his alleged involvement in the Mahanga double murder case.

“A criminal court has expressed dissatisfaction over the probe by police over Mahanga double murder case and ordered for reinvestigation. Four months have passed, but no development has taken place in this regard,” said Acharya.

“The Court expressed resentment over the development yesterday and ordered police to produce the call records of the two associates of the Law Minister and the prime accused Prafulla Biswal who is dead. In this scenario, it is unfortunate that Das is challenging the Opposition to produce evidence against Mishra. BJD should axe the Law Minister first from the State Cabinet,” he said.

The BJP leader also urged the State government to face an impartial investigation into both cases. “A CBI investigation will ensure whether both the BJD ministers are involved in the cases or not. So, the Odisha government should order CBI probe into the cases,” he added.

Meanwhile, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty today hit back at Pitambar Acharya stating that the evidence provided by the latter is false & baseless. Mohanty also accused BJP's Lekhashree Samantsinghar of telling lies by putting aside the interest of the State.
