With an eye on the 2024 General Elections, the Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prepared a three-month road map on Wednesday to corner the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

list of proposals in this connection was approved in the State executive meeting held at Kurang in Cuttack on Wednesday.

As per reports, the meeting was attended by the party's Joint In-Charge for Odisha, Vijaypal Singh Tomar, National Vice President Baijayant Panda and State President Sameer Mohanty among others.

Sources said, the leadership of Odisha BJP discussed several issues including power tariff hike, mineral loot, no services under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, Mahanadi water dispute, loot of central schemes, law and order situation, sorry state of education and health, tender fixing and unemployment issues to put the BJD in a tight spot.

The saffron party also pondered over the options to increase its vote share which stood at 30 percent in the recently concluded Panchayat and Urban polls. The leaders advised the members of the party to work towards strengthening the party at the grassroots level and booth level.

Addressing the media, former BJP MLA Pradeep Purohit said, "We have presented our political proposal in the executive meeting today. And, the party will sharpen its voice against the corrupt practices of the Odisha government."

Replying to the BJP leader's allegations, BJD's Sashibhusan Behera said, “As the Opposition, they are free to portray their picture as per their liking. But, the BJD is ready to answer any question they throw at us.”

The meeting today also saw the passing of a vote of thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing Draupadi Murmu as NDA’s Presidential candidate and increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy.

It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP is all set to change the Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly before the next Monsoon Session.
