Murmu’s nomination as Prez candidate is a fantastic choice, Baijayant Panda

BJP national Vice-President Baijayant Panda has termed the nomination of Odisha tribal leader Draupadi Murmu as NDA candidate for the Presidential election as a fantastic choice.

“I know her personally for last 25 years. Murmu had served twice as an MLA and once as a minister in Odisha, before being sworn in as the Governor of Jharkhand. She has maintained her dignity while serving in all the constitutional posts. She has also set a high standard of integrity and reputation throughout her career,” said Panda.

“She has worked very hard for the betterment of people. She has also done a great work for the uplift of poor and tribal people. Her selection as an NDA candidate for the Presidential election is good news both for the country and the State,” said the saffron party leader.

As per Panda, society is veering in a positive direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“A section of the society which was downtrodden and neglected for thousands of years is now given both respect and respectability. Some parts of the country like North East and Odisha were earlier neglected. But, Modiji is giving focus on these regions. BJP government is identifying talented people with integrity from the neglected section of the society and giving them important responsibilities in various leadership posts,” said the senior BJP leader.

Panda also gave the example of Padma awards which are now being conferred on genuine talents from different sections of the society.

“Earlier, Padma awards were given to the persons who could lobby with the government officials. But now, genuine people with talent and integrity are given the recognition and awards under Modi-led BJP government.

“Draupadi ji is a fantastic choice for the Presidential candidate. Recently I had a discussion with her. I also congratulated her yesterday,” he added.
