The Urban Local Body (ULB) polls this year has virtually turned many houses in Odisha into battlefields with family members pitted against each other as opponents. The political race to win the mandate of the public has set up one such interesting fight between a father and son.

Anil Kumar Sahu, a resident of Ward number 2 in Polsara NAC of Ganjam district is now in the poll fray against his father Duryodhan Sahu for the post of Councillor.

Duryodhan, who is the husband of first woman chairman of Polsara NAC Soudamini Sahu has filed his nomination on a BJP ticket, his son Anil is contesting for the same post with nomination from BJD.

“I have been getting widespread support from the people of the ward for the last 29 years. I am confident that the voters from the region will again vote in favour of me,” said Duryodhan.

“I and my son have some political differences and we will fight for the seat. However, the relationship between both of us is good and it will continue as earlier irrespective of victory or defeat,” Duryodhan said.

Meanwhile, Anil exuded confidence that he will be able to defeat his father in the election.

“My father has done a lot of development work for our area. I am committed to carry forward his legacy by winning the election,” said Anil.
