Ahead of the 2024 general elections, the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress has got its new president. Meenakshi Bahinipati, wife of senior Congress leader and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati has been appointed as the president of the state Congress’ women wing.
All India Congress Committee’s general secretary, K C Venugopal informed this by issuing a press release.
"Hon'ble Congress President has approved the proposal of the appointment of Smt. Meenakshi Bahinipati as the president of Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress, with immediate effect," read the release.
Meenakshi has already proven her mettle while discharging the responsibility of Koraput District Mahila Congress. She is also known as a powerful woman leader in South Odisha.

After being appointed as the president of the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress, Meenakshi said, “I am confident that I can provide safety to women. I hope women of 30 districts will help me in strengthening the Congress in Odisha. The responsibility given to me is a big one but I am confident that I will meet the expectations.”
It is worth mentioning that the Bahinipati couple had met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge during the latter’s Odisha visit on Monday.
