The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday targeted the Odisha government once again by accusing it of shielding Minister of State (Home), Dibya Shankar Mishra in the Mamita Meher murder case following the emergence of fresh video footage confirming the Minister’s presence at Raipur airport before Gobinda Sahu’s arrest.

General Secretary of State BJP, Lekhashree Samantsinghar raised the demand at a presser wherein she presented screen grabs of the video showing Minister Mishra at Raipur airport on October 15, 2021.

Throwing salvo at Mishra, Samantsinghar said, “He (Mishra) intentionally omitted his journey from Raipur to Chandigarh via Delhi on October 15, 2021 and subsequent return to Raipur on October 18, from the itinerary.”

She further asked whether the journey was official or private and as a minister, why did he break the protocol in undertaking the journey.

“Now that his lies are exposed, the government should waste no time in removing him from the cabinet,” she demanded.

Earlier on Monday, the Odisha unit of Congress had claimed that Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the sensational lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, had met the Minister at Raipur a day before the former’s arrest.

Congress Spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra had said, “In the video (which he showed), Minister Mishra can be seen entering the Raipur airport carrying a bag. He went to Delhi from Chandigarh and later landed in Raipur where he met Gobinda Sahu. The very next day, Sahu was arrested. The Minister should answer whether the meeting was a coincidence or it was planned.”
