The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday  launched 'halla bol' agitation against the ruling BJD government, demanding justice to slain Kalahandi school teacher Mamita Meher and her family and action against Minister of State for Home Dibyashankar Mishra for his alleged links with the prime murder accused, Gobinda Sahu.

Taking out a massive rally from Raj Mahal Square, the saffron party leaders and workers marched towards Naveen Niwas, shouting slogans against the BJD, its supremo Naveen Patnaik and Minister Mishra.

Coming down heavily on Naveen Patnaik, BJP Bhubaneswar organisational district president, Babu Singh, said they have been staging protests and bandhs for the last couple of days, demanding the removal of Minister Dibyashankar Mishra and justice to the victim's family. “But Naveen Patnaik has been maintaining a stoic silence. This is why we have launched a 'halla bol' agitation against the 21 year- old government,” he said.

Referring to three party workers with their hands tied and donning masks of Ministers Pratap Jena,  Dibyashankar Mishra and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the rally, another BJP leader Dillip Mohanty launched a scathing verbal attack on the BJD-led government. He said if the government didn’t pay heed to their demands, the day is not far away when the people of the State will come out and punish the Ministers by dragging them in streets by cuffing their hands.

During the march towards Naveen Nivas, the BJP workers were stopped mid-way by the police at Sishu Bhawan Square, resulting in a scuffle.

Notably, the BJP had observed 12-hour and 6-hour bandhs in several districts including Boudh, Balasore, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Subarnapur, Bolangir and Kalahandi districts and has been showing black flags to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visits over demands of justice to Mamita's family and removal of Minister Dibyashankar Mishra.
