The Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) once again turned heat on Dibya Shankar Mishra in connection with Mamita Meher murder case and said the Minister gave clean chit to self even though the police investigation into the case is on.

The party referred to the statement of Mishra, the Minister of State (MoS) for Home, made on Wednesday reiterating that he had no role in the murder case.
Responding to the statement, BJP’s State general secretary Lekhashree Samantasinghar, while addressing a presser in Bhubaneswar today, alleged, “After destroying all evidence with the help of police, now the Minister is claiming that he is innocent. It is like ‘ek toh chori upar se seena jori.”

“The Minister is alleging that the Opposition parties and media are going after him and that all agencies proved he is not guilty. Which agency has given him clean chit? If the Minister is referring to the claims of the northern Range DIG Deepak Kumar, does the officer have any authority to give clean chit to the Minister,” Lekhashree questioned.

Stating that northern range DIG Deepak Kumar said Dibya Shankar did not visit Raipur, Lekhashree further questioned who has given authority to the officer to tell that the Minister had no role in Mamita Meher murder case?

“An independent agency will conduct the probe and submit all the evidences before the court. Then the judge will pronounce the verdict and give clean chit to those who are not culprits and punish those who are guilty,” the BJP leader added.

Yesterday, Dibya Shankar Mishra claimed that he has never been to Sunshine Public School in Mahaling of Kalahandi. The lady teacher of the school, Mamita Meher, was killed by Gobinda Sahu, the head of the school.

“Just because I represent this Assembly Constituency, I cannot be held responsible for a murder that I am not a part of,” Mishra had said.
