Senior Congress leader and party President aspirant Mallikarjun Kharge arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday to campaign for election to the top post.

Upon his arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), senior leaders of the Odisha Congress, MLAs and State In-Charge received him and took him to the party office.

He sought votes from the members of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) which has a strength of 428 votes.

Addressing a press conference, Kharge said, “I do not have any other election manifesto. My manifesto is on the same page as that of the Congress party’s. I will lead the party as per the decisions made at the recent Chintan Shivir (Workshop) held at Udaypur in Rajasthan."

“There were six committees formed by experts; political affairs, organizational affairs, social justice, agriculture, economy and foreign affairs in the party. The gist and outcome of all these committees was brainstormed at the Udaipur declaration. And my job will be to implement all those on the ground,” he added.

Mapanna Mallikarjun Kharge is the current Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Karnataka since 16 February 2021. He was the Leader of the Opposition of the Rajya Sabha from 16 February 2021 to 01 October 2022.

He is fighting against Shashi Tharoor for the top position.

The Congress presidential poll will take place on October 17, and the results will be declared on October 19.
