A railway over bridge project at Tangi area in Cuttack district was inaugurated twice drawing sharp criticism from the Opposition party BJP.

The Tangi-Kapilash road railway overbridge was earlier inaugurated by then MLA Prakash Chandra Behera on 5 March 2019. However, the project did not make any headway over land acquisition problems for the project surfaced/

However, the project was again inaugurated by Salepur MLA Prashant Behera on June 8. Behera was accompanied by State ministers Pradip Amat and Prafulla Mallik. The name of the project was changed to Kapilash road-Nirgundi over bridge.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed dissatisfaction over the matter.

“This was an old project which earlier started in 2018. The overbridge project was the result of then MLA from Congress and then Kendrapara MP Baijyant Jay Panda”, said Biraja Prasad Raut, BJP’s Tangi mandal chief.

“Where was the present MLA three years ago when the issue of land acquisition had surfaced,” he asked.

Few BJD workers said that the former MLA and MP had no role on the project. It triggered the dismay among the BJP workers.

While the response of the local MLA could not be obtained, the ministers said whatever is going on is meant for the development of Odisha.

“The project has began and it will continue smoothly. It is being done for the development of the region and it will be finished by 2023,” said BJD leader and minister Pradip Kumar Amat.
