With Odisha going to plunge into the local body elections sooner than later, the district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kendrapara had a prep up meet with party’s National Vice President, Baijayant Panda helming it.

A two-day-long district executive meeting cum training session (Prashikshan Sibir) of the saffron party was held in Kendrapara to discuss various issues and lay out strategies for the upcoming civic polls. Jay Panda attended the event on the concluding day today and addressed party supporters.

As per reports, seven issues were discussed in the meeting in order to reinforce party’s organisational structure in the district.

Briefing the reporters, Panda said, “This is a basic discipline of the party which all members have to obey. Executive meetings are held across the country, from the National level to the district level.”

“Not only executive meetings but training exercises are also held regularly for all BJP leaders and members to keep them abreast of the happenings,” Panda added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Odisha Cabinet in the last Monsoon session had approved the proposed amendments to the Odisha Gram Panchayat Election Rules, paving way for the conduct of Panchayat polls in the State.

The Cabinet had also reportedly given its approval to the Odisha Municipal Act, effectively clearing the path for the Civic body polls which will most probably follow the Panchayat polls next year.
