Putting an end to all speculations, former lawmaker from Koraput, Jayaram Pangi is going to join the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s political party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Pangi will join the BRS in Hyderabad on January 27.

Pangi said January 27 has been set aside for Odisha only and those who want to join the BRS can join on that date. “The subsequent ‘mishran parvas’ will be held in the concerned districts and States of the new joinees,” he added.

But he said that he didn’t know who the others are joining the BRS.

On January 16, Pangi had met KCR, triggering speculations that he would join the BRS. Pangi is a four-time MLA from Pottangi and won the Koraput Lok Sabha seat on a BJD ticket in 2009. Later, he joined the BJP in 2017. He fought the 2019 Lok Sabha election on a BJP ticket but finished third. Later, he resigned from the BJP on April 1, 2022.

Recently, he has been working on the formation of a union territory comprising areas of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. For this, he has formed an organisation in the name of Dandakaranya Parvatmala Viksah Parishad (DPVP).

On the other hand, former Odisha CM and nine-time MP from Koraput, Giridhar Gamang along with his son Shishir Gamang had also met K Chandrasekhar Rao on January 13. Following the meeting, discussions are doing rounds in political corridors that the father-son duo will also join the BRS.
