Ashwini Vaishnaw, Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia from Odisha were administered oath as Rajya Sabha members on Thursday.
In a special programme organised at Sansad Bhawan, Chairman of Rajya Sabha and Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar administered the oath to BJP’s Ashwini Vaishnaw and BJD’s Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia. A total of 14 members including Congress’ former president, Sonia Gandhi were administered oath today.
Worth mentioning, Ashwinin Vaishnaw and Subhasish Khuntia took the oath in Odia.
As no other candidates from other parties contested for the three seats and none of the three withdrew nominations, the two nominees of the Biju Janata Dal(BJD), Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia, and the lone candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ashwini Vaishnaw were elected uncontested on February 20.
