A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Bhrugu Buxipatra, on Friday filed a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Bhubaneswar demanding scrutiny of a ‘viral audio’ that claims about a ‘secret meeting’ between independent candidate Rajendra Das and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

As per reports, an audio clip has gone viral just a few days ahead of the much-awaited by-election to Dhamnagar.

The audio clip allegedly records a conversation with a journalist in which he is heard saying that Das secretly met Shah.

BJP has raised objections to the audio clip. After filing the complaint at the cyber police station, the saffron party delegation also met Chief Electoral Officer and registered a complaint.

“Recently, a video/audio clip has gone viral in which a journalist is heard claiming that Das had secretly met Amit Shah. The claims of any such secret meeting are baseless. Dragging Union Minister into this by-election is not acceptable and circulating the audio/video clip is even a crime. As per IT act and Indian Penal Code rules, circulating such clips are unlawful,” said Pitambar Acharya, BJP leader.

“Moreover, involving the Union Minister is a more dangerous crime. We have filed a complaint against the matter and demanded immediate inspection and action,” he added.
