Senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das launched a scathing attack on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government over lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case by alleging the involvement of several top government officials in the case apart from the Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra.

Attending a protest meet organised by the Kalahandi district unit of Congress at Gandhi Chhak in Bhawanipatna, Das alleged those involved in the case belong to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). “Therefore, no action is being taken against them,” he alleged.

“MoS for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra is fully involved in the case. Along with the Minister, many other higher officials too are involved. They are from the CMO. The CM would have sacked the Minister by now if others were not involved in the case,” Das alleged.

The senior Congress leader demanded that the call records of three associates of MoS Dibya Shankar Mishra should be examined. He warned that the protest will continue until justice is delivered to the deceased lady teacher and her family.

Das said Congress party workers will hold protest at the programme of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik scheduled to be held in the district next week. Similarly, the party will hold district-wide protest from today.

The reaction of the BJD on the allegations of the Congress leader could not be obtained.
