Ahead of the upcoming general elections 2024, Congress will kick start 'Bharat Jodo Abhiyan' from Kanyakumari on Sept 7, informed OPCC Chief Sarat Patnaik on Monday. 

Addressing the presser, Patnaik informed that the party will conduct the Jana Sampark Padayatra across 12 states and two Union Territories. The party will reach out to the voters over different issues including messed up economic system, rampant inflation and unemployment. 

While the campaign is being planned from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Congress parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi will participate in the 'padayatra' (foot march). The padyatra will be about 3,500 km long and is scheduled to be completed in around 150 days.

As many as 100 representatives of the party from Odisha will participate in the campaign.

"Two party leaders, Rabindra Shetty and Nakul Nayak, have been handed over the charges of the campaign in Odisha," informed Patnaik.

Meanwhile, AICC Spokesperson, Anshul Avijit said, "We have challenges in front of us which are serious. Bharat Jodo Abhiyan is the need of the hour, as BJP and its associates are aiming to divide India and destroy everything."

He went on to add, "The campaign aims to reach out to the citizens across India and for the first time it is being planned in the country. The party will reach out to the citizens to learn about the problems they are facing. Party workers will cover around 23 kms per day."

Further briefing about the campaign and route of the foot march, he said, the campaign will begin on Sept 7 and Rahul Gandhi will address the mass. On Sept 8, the foot march will begin thereafter. the march will begin from Kanyakumari and cover places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and it will end in Jammu and Kashmir.
